The GGHA’s screening process for volunteers includes the use of Police Record Checks (PRC) with Vulnerable Sector Screening conducted through the Ottawa Police Service as one means to identify any person whose past actions may suggest a potential threat to children or vulnerable adults based on the following considerations.
Timing of PRC Completions
GGHA volunteers who may have contact with children or vulnerable adults in the course of their duties are required to complete PRC forms, based on the following schedule:
- GGHA Executive must complete a PRC consent form within two months following the Annual General Meeting or their appointment, whichever is later, and every three years thereafter.
- Coaches, assistant coaches, managers, trainers, and den moms must complete a PRC consent form within one month after assuming their respective role and renew the PRC every two years thereafter.
The Executive Committee must remove any individual failing to submit a completed PRC form within the required time frame from his or her roles immediately.
